We've arrived!

Almost four years after sensing God's call to Uganda (September 2009), we are here in Kampala! Jet lag hinders me from writing my best, but we wanted you to know that we have arrived safe and sound...with luggage. The temperature is wonderful, warm but not Manila hot/humid, and the compound is filled with greenery and birds of multiple sizes/designs and their various songs from sunrise to sunset--a true oasis in the city! Although the table on which I am typing and the room where I am sitting is cluttered with a wide assortment of things still waiting for the right place to be kept, we are in a lovely spacious rented and furnished house which I'm sure will soon feel like "home."  There are four houses on this compound, all rented by missionaries, three of them rented by WorldVenture (the mission we are on loan to during our time here). We've eaten in two of their homes already (they've looked after us so well) and tomorrow we look forward to meeting the third neighbor during a belated July 4th celebration barbecue.

THANK YOU to all of you who have prayed and given to make this a possibility. THANKS to all who helped us during the final week or so of preparation and travel, including Neil, Laura's brother, who drove us to Halifax in her brother Bill's truck, and to Mom Bonney who accompanied us. We enjoyed a farewell Canada supper at the Halifax airport with a cousin of Laura's.  We are so grateful to those who have helped make our first couple of days here in Uganda productive. And above all, our THANKS to God for His abundant blessings, provisions, and promises.  We look to Him for His plan.  Thanks for joining us in this pursuit.

  1. Thrilled to read your post and see your pictures. It's exciting to hear how God is providing for your every need--from travel arrangements to the neighbours He has chosen for you. He is so awesome. Keep posting--and I'll keep praying.
